LINER NOTES

Wonderboy originally formed in December 2021 and somehow we're only now releasing our first album. It's been a long time in the making, with the first batch of songs (Always, Nothing New, & Vacation) being written in late 2022. We hope you listen and enjoy.

This album is dedicated to our horn section, Johnny Skipple (trumpet), Patrick Winut (trombone), & Danny Saladmann III (saxophone). All of whom died in a freak car accident with a food truck that makes novelty donuts shaped like famous cartoon characters heads. We have replaced them on this album with cassette recordings of our previous live shows with them.

Taquitos

A song about taquitos or something, I don't know, there's no vocals, you decide what it's about

Forever

This is about doing nothing and not wanting to do nothing... or something

I sit and stare and I wonder why
As conversations pass me by

And in my head I
Think of things I should've said

Is it gonna be this way forever?
Is it gonna be this way?

Now, I will sit and I will write
Another verse to sing tonight

Nothing New

Just a bunch of references to some books by Joseph Heller

How can we all be sure that the past does exist
Picture this! The world is just a bullet-point list
Oh yeah, oh no, now I really gotta go
'Cause peace on earth ain't the world that I know
It's nothing new

Major Major Major ain't a captain, don't you know
And he knows, so he goes inside and hides
It's life or death, what could you say to him?
"I'm sorry, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do"
It's nothing new

It's nothing new
It's nothing new

Milo is a chef and Milo is a mayor
Milo makes a mean chocolate covered cotton ball
And it's all for the syndicate
And you've got a share in it too
It's nothing new

My Flight Is Here

This song is about kind of about nothing and kind of about Wonderboy and kind of about planes

Everything I do is waiting
For the moment to
Get in line again, complaining
Seems like all I do

And as I sit down in my seat
I will listen to
Songs about your youth, complaining
Seems like all you do

It ain't fun but it ain't boring me
I guess it's somewhere in between
My flight is here, I gotta leave
It ain't fun but it ain't boring me

When I step off of the plane I realize
Just how far we have come from yesterday

Valued

This is a song about Value Village

Used couches, antique goods
Some good books and some bad ones
Monitors and keyboards
20 year old PC games that probably don't work anymore
Old vinyl, cassettes and
DVDs and VHS tapes
T-shirts and three piece suits
There's a special place that's waiting there for you

They built a place like this and they built 300 more
Anything is possible when you enter the door
(That's value, that's value)

Casio pianos
CDs of bands you don't know
Wii Fit™ Plus Balance Board
Anything you could afford and more

Always (Pickin' It Up)

Why do all the ska bands say "pick it up"?

The band plays, picks it up
The crowd goes wild enough
But wells tend to dry up
Reconsider your good luck

Always pickin' it up but you're never puttin' it down
I think we need some change around, right about now

Checkerboard, black and white
He's just a stereotype
Three piece suit, porkpie hat
Is it just some outdated fad

Vacation

This is a song about nationalism and patriotism being lame

Well, I want a vacation, yeah I want a vacation
From the bullshit and the lies of a patriotic nation
Dogmatic and truistic but it doesn't mean a thing
Everybody in this place has the same song to sing, alright
Well, I want a vacation, yeah I want a vacation
Think you got me now but we all play this game
Pledge allegiance to a country but what is in a name?
Say you're all so different, but I think you sound the same

'Cause that's the way that it seems to go
Everyone I know is going home

Well, I want a vacation, yeah I want a vacation
From everything around me that just ends in stagnation
Corporations never change so it's all up to us
To figure this shit out, do something positive for once

On & Off

This song's about television and propaganda and shit

I don't know what I'm doing, still I do it anyway
I don't know what I'm saying, still I say it anyway
I don't think about a thing, why should I anyway
I don't care what you say, I flip the switch and go away

Flip the switch on, flip the switch off
Flip the switch and use my mind I flip the switch off
Flip the switch off, flip the switch on
I have no time, I have no mind, I flip the switch on

I don't know what I'm feeling, still I feel it anyway
I don't know what I'm hearing, still I hear it anyway
I don't think about a thing, why should I anyway
I don't care what you say, I flip the switch and go away

The daily news will tell you what to think
TV shows entertain you while you drink
Even though there's something there
You know there's really nothing there for you

Autumnal Equinox

This is a song about the end of summer but replace "the end of summer" with "our old singer leaving the band"

I guess I thought you'd never leave
The way things used to be
It's nothing new really
Atleast that's how it seems

You came through the door
Maybe you'll come through once more
Like nothing even happened
Which I guess is kind of true

The summer is almost, is almost over
I haven't seen you since, since January

So I'll go my own way too
There's really nothing else to do
Even if there was a way to
There's nothing left to say to you

Now that the fall will be here soon
There's nothing left to say to you

New CD

This is a song about how we suck or something, I don't know,I thought it was funny when I wrote it

Got a new CD, won't you buy it please
Give us your money, for these shitty songs
That use the same 3 chords, for a minute and a half
But you're probably already bored 'cause this song is way too long

Got a new CD, won't you buy it please
Give us your money, for these shitty songs
And once you hear this track, I'll say to give it back
Or throw it in the trash, 'cause that's where it belongs

Golden Life

This is a song written by our old singer that I changed the lyrics to be about our old singer leaving the band, yeah

It was a beautiful day
The sun came out
It was a wonderful life
But we can't have it now

But you know that I
I won't leave you
You know that I

And your heart was gold
But you never seemed to know
Never thought you'd get old
But you never saw the goal

But you came to me
And you never seemed to be there
But you came to me

Hey, I won't fake you out
I won't go and lie to you
Not this time, I say no
Not this time, I say no

It was a beautiful day
And the sun came out
It was a wonderful time
But we can't have it now

You've got yours
And I've got my way
You've got yours

Industry Song

This is a song about the music industry (hence the title) and how we're not really a part of it

You're not the only one who's given up
Given up on your new toys
Left behind there with Wonderboy™

(Everything) You took
(Everything) Everything from me
(Everything) Just so I could see
(From me) A glimpse of something I could be
Oh, I said let's go
(hep hep, now you're ska-ing like a pro)
But I didn't know you'd go so low
That's what it's all about
(tried to pick it up but it's so heavy underground)
You'll run out in financial drought

Underground I could be wondering
Wondering where I could be
But it doesn't matter for a band you'll never see
